Select "Create a new Internet news account" if the automatic Connection Wizard gives you
the option; this occurs only if you have another news program such as FreeAgent or Netscape
installed and configured already.
The first screen of the wizard asks for your name. You can type anything you wish here.
Click "Next >".
The next window asks for your Internet email address. This will be your login name@eskimo.com; the login name is the login you requested when you signed up for your account, not the username we assigned for 56k/ISDN or other access.
Click "Next >".
The news server is named "eskinews.eskimo.com" (or "news.eskimo.com" as an easier-to-remember alias). If you are connecting through the 56k/ISDN access lines or another network connection, you'll have to log into the server with your normal login/password pair (the same you use for email). Connecting through the slower-speed lines in Western Washington does not require this extra step.
Click "Next >".
Select the option that allows you to type in your login and password. This is the pair
you requested when you signed up for the account, not the pair that was assigned for
56k/ISDN or other access.
NOTE: If you have a non-dedicated (real) SLIP/PPP account,
you may have a different password set for logging in via SLIP/PPP.
Your mail password is the same as your emulated SLIP/PPP password.
Click "Next >".
If you read from multiple news servers or multiple Internet Providers, you'll want to choose a name that will help you remember which account this group of settings is for. Otherwise, this setting is relatively meaningless. You can type anything you want here.
Click "Next >".
Many people want to have Outlook Express connect automatically instead of going through the double process of using Dialup Networking to connect to the Internet, then using Outlook to connect to the news server. This setting will let you choose to connect automatically or to follow the dual-login process. If you have multiple Internet Providers, choose to connect manually here, otherwise this may disconnect your current connection in order to dial the setting you would otherwise choose here.
Click "Next >". If you chose to connect manually, you're done and can click "Finish". If you chose to connect with your phone line, read on.
Most people only have one modem, but if you have more than one connected to your computer, here's your chance to pick which modem you want to use.
Click "Next >".
If you have multiple Dialup Networking entries, here's your change to pick which one this program should use to connect to the server; highlight the appropriate entry in the list. If you don't have any entries created yet, you can opt to create one now, but please see the other support pages for information on configuring your computer's dialup connections.
Click "Next >". Click "Finish", and you're done!
